Maintenance Lead (San Antonio, TX)

Summary – This position is responsible for ensuring all fields, greenhouses, roadways, office and canning equipment are maintained and in good working order in order to produce the highest quality product at any point in the seasons, by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities: (These are not in any hierarchical order)

  • Follow established PM schedule for each piece of equipment, greenhouse and field on a running seasonal basis
  • Provide a cost estimate for each scheduled PM
  • Track on a weekly basis PM performed and submit to Maintenance Manager
  • Keep a running list of all maintenance issues turned in by departments
  • Prioritize all maintenance projects with the Maintenance Manager in order to target the right issues at the right time
  • Be able to troubleshoot and identify cause of equipment failure
  • Track safety related repairs to provide compliance with OSHA and other State and Federal agencies
  • Maintain all work areas particularly shops clean and in good working conditions in compliance with all OSHA, State and Federal regulations
  • Communicate company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations
  • Ensure that all fields and greenhouses are maintained to ensure quality growing conditions
  • Perform other duties as directed by Manager

Qualifications- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/ or ability required.

  • Minimum two (2) years related experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a must
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
  • Working Knowledge of software applications (Excel, MS Word, etc. with the ability to plan and prioritize multiple tasks/projects. Strong working knowledge of all office machines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), including editing and proofing skills
  • Excellent listening, interpretation, and reasoning skills necessary
  • Must be an independent thinker and innovative problem-solver
  • Ability to foster strong relationships with team members and external clients
  • Maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information

Language Skills: Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, SDS Sheets, chemical labels, and other special operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals required for this position. The employee must have the ability to write simple instructions, and to communicate well with others.

Education and/or Experience: Self motivated, able to develop and work as part of a team, and posses strong time management, organizational and communication skills. Team Lead will be expected to participate with management in critical development decisions. This position will manage hours to plan, develop measure and monitoring systems to ensure continuous improvement and insure accurate reporting. This position is also responsible for the training and safety of the assigned team. Fluency in Spanish/English is a must. Must have at least two years of maintenance experience with a proven ability to schedule, and supervise a maintenance team.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate simple math such as adding, subtracting and multiplying.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, carry, push, pull; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, work overhead and talk and hear. The employee will be required to have fine dexterity and motor skills. The employee must frequently be required to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds of items such as flats, pots, containers, equipment etc., of varying size and shape. The employee will be required to frequently kneel, stoop, bend and stand for long periods of time and walk on uneven ground. The employee is occasionally required to sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

This position required to work with electrical equipment, may be responsible for energizing and reenergizing equipment, work at heights, climb ladders, and work on rooftops.

The employee may be required to wear personal protective equipment, as required.

The employee must be able to operate equipment in a safe matter.

The employee may be required to work varying hours including weekends and holidays. Saturdays may be mandatory and must be able to work and finish scheduled shifts.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to work in an outside environment to include heat, cold, sun, rain and various other elements and potentially difficult environmental conditions. The employee must be able to tolerate these conditions.   The employee will also be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee will occasionally be exposed to fumes, chemicals or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate. The employee may be subject to irregular work schedules.
